![]() ![]() Artists soon realized that they could charge an admission fee to listeners, and the first known public concerts for which admission was charged were given in London by the violinist John Banister at his home in Whitefriars in 1672. While music initially start ed out as a form of communication during the stone ages, it morphed into a creative expression over the millenniums, with the advent of musical theatres in ancient Greece. What hasn’t stayed the same however, is the way in which we consume music, and the medium of its distribution. And in those nearly 40,000 years, its purpose has stayed more or less the same - to give creators an artistic outlet, and listeners a way to hear emotions. Music has long been a source of expression for the human race, with the first known instances of music dating back to 38,000 BCE. ![]()
